After two years of experimenting, NetNam as the network of Institute of Information Technology was founded as a first e-mail provider in Vietnam in 1994, under the domain name .vn. E-mail based services such as forums, e-library, etc had been provided to thousands of clients just within one year after introduction. Other services as Web, FTP, telnet, etc become available when NetNam was officially given the ISP license since 1997. NetNam Corporation was one of the first official ISPs in Vietnam. In 1998, NetNam Corporation was established, with the mission of being the bridge between the academy environment and the market.
- 07/12/1994: NetNam - first e-mail service provider in Vietnam was founded by the Networking Department of Institute of Information Technolog.
- 19/11/1997: NetNam was one of the first 04 Internet Services Provider (ISP) in Vietnam
- Oct 1998: state-owned enterprise - NetNam Corporation founded
- May 1999: official launching of liaison office in Press Club
- July 2000: NetNam southern branch opened in Hochiminh city
- Oct 2003: employees reached 100
- Feb 2004: started experimenting the broadband Internet services
- Feb 2006: opened the e-news thoibaoviet.com
- May 2006: one of the best Provides for 5-star Hotels in Hanoi and Hochiminh city
Being the bridge between the academic field and the real market, NetNam has the mission of implementation the research results to the real life, focusing on the networking + Internet solutions, open-source software technologies.

NetNam is now having 120 employees, located mainly in Hanoi and Hochiminh city.
